Ribbon Cuttings & Anniversary Celebrations
Ribbon Cuttings, Anniversary Celebrations, and Groundbreakings are a great way for a business of any size to invite the public to learn about their business, get some press, and celebrate their hard work with the business community. Whether you're a small, home-based business, or a large corporate entity, ribbon cuttings are something that will benefit your business for years after the event.
Important Information
You must be a member of the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce to host an official ribbon cutting anniversary celebration, or ground breaking.
Membership enables us to get your event the highest attendance and the most publicity. If your business does not have a physical space, that's okay! We can use the Chamber office as the location.
Ribbon cuttings must be scheduled at least one month in advanced. This allows the Chamber time to market the event, invite media, and gather ambassadors and board members to help with the event.
What does the Chamber provide?
The Chamber provides the scissors, ribbon, invitation to elected officials, press release to our media partners, a portable microphone and speaker, promotion on social media, website, and emails, all at no cost to you!
What should I provide?
You should provide a clean space to welcome people to your ribbon cutting event. Light refreshments are reccomended as it can keep people staying and engaged in your business. Consider offering tours, samples, or demonstrations, depending on your business. People love to see the behind the scenes after the event.
What does the program agenda look like?
That's up to you! A Chamber staff member will share a few remarks, and will ask you to share a few remarks, including thanking everyone for attending. If elected officials attend, it's usually a good idea to point them out or ask them to speak briefly.
Will the media be there?
We send a press release for each ribbon cutting to our media partners. Unfortunatley, we can't guarentee that they will attend. We invite local newspapers, digital influencers and journalists, and tv stations in the Sacramento and San Francisco markets. Due to the ever-changing news landscape, it's almost impossible to guarentee what outlets will be there. Our goal is to get you as much coverage as possible.
Will the Chamber take photos?
Yes, we will take photos and videos with our staff's phones, but we don't have a professional photographer at this time. We have several members who are photographers, should you like professional photography of that day.
When should I do my ribbon cutting?
We generally recccomend doing your ribbon cutting during business hours on Tuesdays-Thursdays. This will increase the business community's attendance. If you're an entertainment business, like a sports bar, it's okay to do a later event, but try to make it overlap with the business day, say at 4:30pm. Many people are unlikely to go back out after they've gone home for the day.
